Water Parks for the Aged?

Over the weekend, I went with a friend to an indoor water park.  I took Buzzard and Roo, Bugs being otherwise occupied.  My friend has a son who hung out with the twins, and I helped out with the 3-1/2 and 8 year old.  I now know exactly how old I am.

How do I know?  When I woke up the next morning and got in the shower, my back was aching.  A thought occured to me, and to test my theory, I bent slightly at the waist.  My latissimus dorsi muscles spasmed.  Confirmation that I can no longer walk around for hours holding the hand of a person that is only two feet tall.

This tiny person took me from water slide to water slide.  We rode the lazy river, and she actually shivered on the third trip around, her lips slightly blue.  We hopped out and she grabbed my hand, pulling me along.

“Where do you want to go?”  I inquired, shivering myself.  I got no response.  She simply walked as fast as she could.  No dummy, she went straight to the hot tub.  We both got in the blissfully warm water and stayed to thaw.  After practicing her swimming for 15 minutes or so by jumping from the side to me, she suddenly decided it was time to slide again.  In the cold water.  Either she forgot how cold it was, or the fun of the slides was overriding the cold.  In any case, I was about to be blue again.  We were doused with cold water from spilling buckets, shot at with cold water from hoses (both of which were manned by the three boys), and drenched with cold water while zipping down the slides from spouts hanging overhead.

The kids had a really great time.  And it was the most fun I’ve had in a really long time.  Even if I was blue.
