  1. flowers are whole worlds in themselves. the California Poppy is stunning.

    • I grew up in California, and when I took photography in high school, I used to go out and photograph the hillsides–blanketed with California poppies, and lupins. I still have my old proofs from that time. I’m going to CA again in a couple of weeks, and my friend tells me there is a poppy reserve. I’m thinking if I can wrap up my dads estate stuff, I will take some time and go see it.

      • wrapping up those loose ends can be so difficult. don’t miss the opportunity to visit the poppy reserve. take a little time for yourself. I look forward to seeing the pics from your trip. 🙂

      • I was just thinking as I was typing that I should just make a point to do it. I often take pictures there, but usually with a phone–not the greatest photos!

  2. Loved all your shots, they looked so great!

  3. Beautiful! You had me at the daisy (they are my favorites)! 🙂

  4. Lilly Sue says:

WOW the California Poppy picture is beautiful! I love it 🙂

  5. Beedie says:

Absolutely Beautiful! It’s been dry in California. Hopefully not to late for some wildflowers.

  6. The quote you headed your post with, from Marcus Aurelius, is both inspirational and thoughtful. (As is much of the Emperor’s writings… I read them first many years ago, when I was but a child, along with Churchill, Plato, and Gaius Julius Caesar.)
The photography is, as I have come to expect from you, excellent.
I look forward to much more as things progress.

    • My! Sounds like you were a bit precocious as a youngster! I love Aurelius’ writings, and would like to read some of his work besides the quotes. He seemed like a wise man beyond his time–although the lessons haven’t really changed, have they? Thank you so much for the compliments! I am dying to get a new camera, as mine is a bit limiting only being 6 megapixels. I’ve often noticed too, that some of my shots come out grainy, even if the ISO is at 200 and all other parameters are appropriate. Makes me a little nuts. That and I need reading glasses so I can’t really tell from the display if the picture is good or not. 🙂
