I’ve been stalking this guy for a week. He hung around for 3 days, and I took lots of pictures, but he was just too far away. Today I trekked out to his tree, and got this picture.
absolutely beautiful. you did a great job
Thank you Terry. I was really fascinated by him.
i would have been too. I love taking nature photos
Don’t know why this was in spam, but only just found it! Thanks!
oh, this is beautiful. great hook, I was wondering who you might be stalking!
Hehe. He was around for three days, and then left. Then I saw him again today!
Love this picture Arnel!
At first glance he looks almost cartoon-like
Thanks! It’s weird to see such a big bird hanging around here!
Thanks Jules! I was so excited to see him again!
This is stunning. Great work!
What camera do you have? I love your photography! (I know the camera doesn’t make the photo, the artist does, but I am sure a good camera helps.)
A good camera does help, but I’ve seen amazing photos with all types of cameras! I have a Canon 5D MarkIII, but I actually took this photo with my hubs camera, which is a canon 7D. And, the lens I used was the VERY inexpensive stock camera that came with my sons camera, the canon 75-300mmIII, the cheapest 75-300 they make, which retails for 199.00. I used my husbands because his is a medium sensor while mine is a full sensor. For something far away, the additional crop factor on the 7D was helpful to bring the subject closer.
I need to take some photography classes because most of what you said went over my head and it lingering above me in a bubble surrounded by question marks. LOL. Like I said before, your pictures are outstanding. Have you published them in a book?
Thank you! I have not published them in a book. My project for 2013 is a floral coffee table book though.
YOU SHOULD!!! It would be amazing!
Thank you, UC! I shall endeavor to do my best for 2013.
Fantastic capture!! Well worth the wait.
Thanks! He flew away, and I thought he was gone for good until I saw him again today.
Wow! He[?] looks like a drawing!
Your patience paid off beautifully!
I noticed he’s back again today–in the pouring rain!
Wow…what a bird and what a picture….Diane
Thanks! He was amazing. He’s left his perch, but I’m hoping he comes back!

Why, thank you!
Worth the stalk and the wait I’d say.
Definitely! I’ve been waiting for him to return so I could have another go. He really fascinates me…
Absolutely stunning Arnel! Herons always remind me of Japanese scrolls
I’ve never thought of them that way, and you are right! They really do!
